actually, wasn't referencing the article relative to IOM's action today. what i meant was that one reason there are plentiful disk drives in the market is because IOM has possibly taken market share from some of the larger players? although to quantify this would be difficult even if true only slightly. i do know that when i purchased my several jaz drives i was approached by the reseller and asked if i didn't want to purchase several additional wdc drives instead. so, you multiply this question several thousand times over per day and you must conclude that if jaz/zip were not so readily available, these same purchasers would be purchasing wdc or qntm product. nearly 25% of wdc sales had come from the retail level. i've not looked to see if their percent of retail sales have fallen relative to overall income. if there's little change in this regard for wdc or qntm, then you must assume that people are buying zip/jaz in addition to normal purchases. but i think the opposite is true. got to get back to work!
