You are just digging yourself in deeper. Hispanics speak Spanish. The Portuguese speak...well--why don't you take a guess?! The Brazilian slave owners were white caucasians--mostly from Portugal who had colonised that colony (now, of course, an official country).

35% of the Atlantic Slave Trade ended up in Brazil.
