That video did not showa peaceful civil rights march |
It showed a violent mob throwing killer rocks.
The soldiers were not "armed to the teeth". They appeared to have rifles which they had to break open to reload [I saw one of those but didn't see any knives between teeth or other weaponry though did see a water cannon.
Maybe they did and maybe they didn't: <the paratroopers had fired the first shot, had fired on fleeing unarmed civilians, and shot and killed one man who was already wounded. > The paratroopers might have fired the first shot but in a "stand your ground" situation with missiles coming in, it would be useless to wait until the mob arrived with bricks to pound your head to mush. Just as well they fired the first shots to hold the ground back. How many "fleeing unarmed civilians" were shot? When in a violent mob, they are not "civilians", they are soldiers. Useless soldiers but nevertheless soldiers. There was already an IRA and they fancied themselves as soldiers. Martin McGuinness was there and armed apparently. A shame it wasn't him that they shot and killed. It would have been like getting Hitler in his youth - an excellent public work.
What was the name of the man who was wounded, had surrendered, but was nevertheless finished off and what were the circumstances of his death? Whatever the case, that's what has happened in wars around the world. Look at Hiroshima for example. There were hordes of unarmed civilians - actual ones, not people in an actual violent attack throwing rocks and attempting to maim or kill the opposition who were standing their ground.
It's hard to be certain sometimes: <The report stated five British soldiers aimed shots at civilians they knew did not pose a threat and two other British soldiers shot at civilians "in the belief that they might have identified gunmen, but without being certain that this was the case".[14] > A Brazilian was shot and killed in an underground train because he was mistakenly identified, with no chance to surrender. I guess that the reason the so-called "peaceful demonstration" was attended by armed soldiers was that it was quite obvious that the mob did not have friendly intentions and that Martin McGuinness for example was armed with a gun. It subsequently proved that he was a violent criminal thug and one of many. It's well to stop them when they are young. Very young. Before they attack too many people.
Is the soldier who allegedly shot the "fleeing unarmed civilian" still alive to explain whether he did and why he did?
Anyway, who cares? As Hillary says, "What difference does it make?"
