So I see a dynamic movement toward greater restrictions and reductions in the right to keep or bear arms. If the trend of the past 50 years is allowed to continue the purpose of the 2nd amendment becomes circumvented. Will it? It could but I am not a fortune teller so I don't know.

There are 300M guns in the country, give or take...most folks can buy a gun in less than a day. At gun shows anyone can buy a gun, cash and carry.

So you see, the situation we have and the words "restrictions" don't fit in the same paragraph. The Heller SCOTUS decision says that people have a right to own guns but the gov has a right to regulate that ownership...that is already a fairly liberal decision by the SCOTUS, relative to the 2nd...and yet the government (the fed anyway) has not really done much to control the flow and purchase of guns. The only possibility I see is for more conservative interpretations of the 2nd amendment, not more liberal ones.

I think the NRA does a good job of spreading FUD with those so disposed. It's a sad and unreasonable mission frankly.
