I've never known a gang member or former gang member who cared about voting. It's at least possible that Obama changed that some but I doubt it's a permanent change. On the other hand, every one I've known well has been deeply in favor of gun rights.
Part of the reason is that people in the lower section of our country (whether they're bloods, crips, or aryan nation members, matters not) have absolutely no belief that the police are going to protect them. They have no doubt that any protection they have will come from themselves. It's the progressive liberals who want to ban guns. Another part is that guns are just fun.
