Researchers who enter a particular field often do so because they have a predetermined belief.


This is projection at work again. Not everyone filters everything through a prism of their own beliefs. What is paramount in science is to evaluate the evidence and go where that takes them. Sure, you can find some who cherry pick the facts to fit their personal beliefs, but outside of certain social sciences it is the exception rather than the rule.
