>> but our system of government gives us orderly resolution of such differences...when one begins to talk about weapons to defend oneself against government in today's America? ...that's crazy (and dangerous) talk...

Civilized places have collapsed into anarchy before. There are tons of moving parts that have to be considered -- it isn't just that people have to protect themselves from government, but it may be that government cannot protect us from other people. When the economy collapses -- and make no mistake, that cannot be prevented at this point -- it will be necessary for people to defend their property and lives if they want to keep them.

Due in substantial part to an out of control welfare state, society today has no moral underpinning, the value of human life has reached an all-time low in America. It is patently absurd to think that government can in any way influence the possession of arms among criminals.

If I want to own an assault rifle to protect myself from these creeps that ought to be my prerogative. Because THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE THEM, PERIOD.
