No-'nads Nadler, somebody called him ... he wrote great zippy headers, captured my interest enough to click a few dozen times, until it dawned that the message was always going to be the same - gold gonna go down ... which it has more or less done for what, about a year and a half now, so sometimes he was right ... funny, but he often stuck in that bit about gold being important as portfolio insurance, to the tune of ten per cent or so - well if a small fraction of the world at large was to do ten per cent of that, just put one per cent of pf in bullion, the price would have to rise considerably to ration out available supplies ... it's good to have a devil's advocate around, question reasoning and all that, he did lay it on a bit thick though ... never bothered me much, until once in a while he would bad-mouth silver, well there he was clearly out of line -g-
The man did impress me once though ... i was on the way to a gold show in Hongcouver, got into town early on empty stomach, called a friend, had brunch at his new favourite pub, which had excellent draught beer, then to his old favourite pub, which had a wonderful IPA, and lots of it, then i just decided to up and go, without taking care of all relevant details ... hiked the half mile or so to the show, on arrival there was really only one thing on my mind, and on my bladder, and rising pretty near to the level of back teeth, so immediately after checkin i went straight to the first booth, which happened to be Kitco's ... fellow sees me coming, misreading perhaps the reason for intensity of my gaze, stands up, says hello I'm Jon Nadler ... i mumble pleasantries for six seconds or so, he says some people think gold only and always goes up, we agree that not every day it does, we're up to fourteen seconds or thereabouts now and the situation is becoming critical, i get straight to the nub of it, ask if he's seen a gents in the vicinity ... well sir, i'll never forget the instantaneous and total focus he brought to the issue, the educated and confident manner in which his spine stiffened, and he made this most elegant pointing gesture, saying 'Over there'
And it was there, in that precise direction ... same place it had been months before, seems i'd forgotten in the meantime, but hey that's why i don't make the big bucks for typing on the internet ... the man had made a definitive call, on which he could have been proven right or wrong, and was, to my satisfaction, proven right ... such things are not easily forgotten |
