Ericsson Innovation and Imagination: The Ericsson T1s with Vibra Call (Ad)

Back in early 1999 when Ericsson was still the 3rd largest mobile phone manufacturer and before the Sony-Ericsson JV (now Sony Phones) was formed they released the Ericsson T18s front flip with Vibra Call. One of my former client contacts (the Subscriber Equipment Manager for a national GSM network operator) who had become a personal friend e-mailed me the classic photo above. It had just been e-mailed to him by his Ericsson Mobile Phones Account Manager. The photo was part of an advertising campaign created for Ericsson by one of their European ad agencies and supposedly had run in a couple of prestigious European print magazines before being pulled because of complaints by some of the magazines subscribers and other advertisers .

Anybody Home ???

I'm very surprised nobody has posted here since July 2011 since Ericsson trades in the US as ERIC ADSs and is still the largest global supplier of mobile network infrastructure, a major mobile wireless industry force, and has an exceptionally strong IP portfolio.

This was I believe the 3rd mobile wireless company board started on Silicon Investor back in 1996 (May 29) and the 3rd I followed regularly for over a year before I joined SI in November 1997.

The 1st SI was CDMA, QUALCOMM (QCOM) ... THE MARKET TEST! founded by Maurice Winn in early April 1996 well before moderated SI boards were initiated in 1999. It was the 1st Qualcomm discussion board started in cyberspace.

The 2nd was Nokia (NOK) founded by Nils Mork-Ulnes on April 26, 1996 and it remained unmoderated till April of 2012, long after the departure of Nils.
