<<it's hard not to be embarrassed by the mean-spirited behavior of some of the SI members.>>

When I first joined SI in June, 1997, I did so for the investment/trading insight. SI was a kinder, more gentler forum back then. What changed? The creation of all these political threads and hate postings in regard to Obama, Bush, McCain, Democrats, Republicans, etc. SI has become somewhat polarized, like the US, into Red and Blue factions, conservative and liberal. There are numerous people who post on SI who contribute nothing to the investment/trading landscape; all they do is post their political hostilities each and every day.

Now I know the creation of all these political boards did not originate while you were in charge. But I'd like to see someone who is in charge either get rid of all these political boards or make a posting requirement that 75% of all posts made over a 3 month period must be stock market related or a fee will be instituted.

I know this is 2013 and not 1997, but if the owners of SI really want to see a nicer SI, then they need to attack the problem at its root.

I'm not saying this will eliminate all the mean-spirited behavior. But it will improve things dramatically. There will always be some longs who will attack shorts and vice versa. That you can't do anything about since its an investment/trading forum. And sometimes that's not so bad if its partly in jest.
