I ditched satellite yesterday, following in the footsteps of a good friend who recently did the same.

I got sick to my stomach of paying a lot of money for 300 all-ad channels, paying for commercial TV, having to negotiate a lower rate on an annual basis, and an absurdly unnavigable channel line-up. We have DirectTV, which will end for good on the 13th.

We are keeping Charter cable for their 40mbps internet pipe, over which we also use Vonage for VOIP phone service. IMO thats all one should need now. We might buy a terestrial HD antenna, which frankly, costs less than one month of cable service.

We don't even think about the Netflix bill... it is so inexpensive it is a no-brainer whether we use it or not. And the kids do use it.

I heard Hulu plus is good. I'll miss cable news to help me fall asleep. Thats about it.
