From what I can see - the last 13 years of debt has bought us diddly squat.

I agree about the Bush years but it did, definitely, buy something of great social utility during the Obama years. Two large things come to mind. The first is social safety net payments when tax revenues were low (Rep tax policy and economic downturn) which helped keep the economy afloat and provided necessary fiscal relief for millions. The second are the various and sundry stimulus packages which kept the economy from falling all the way into depression and offered a basis for rebuilding, if much too slow for my comfort.

Both these count as more than "diddly squat" in my counting system.
