TI/COMS?

greetings scrapps

>>...I must say I'm a bit confused of late as to how well the relationships between USR & TI are holding up since USR was bought by COMS. USR and TI have a deal or partnership in the x2 DSL, but, I don't know how they read.<<

Have also been wondering about the ti/coms relationship...

Has been mighty quiet since last feb announcement of c6x which was going to bring us x2/dsl v. everything by this last fall. By may the date had slipped to early '98. Suppose we could still be on track, but today's announcement of coms/adi following on recent coms/rok cable modem silicon seems to be casting some doubt....

During the wstl/amtx/ti dance, seemed a little odd that no one was mentioning how coms fit into the scheme of things... These questions still remain... including whether ti/amtx was from ti's strength or weakness?

Latest c6x announcements have silicon shipping in quantity 1st half of 98. Do you know the details of the ti adsl solution... chip count... atm implementation etc? At first it seemed like a slam dunk, but...

At this point the c6x hasn't even been lab tested, much less field or trial tested. Tuning may take some time. The competition including awre/adi is into at least a couple adsl silicon generations.

Coms may now be hedging as adsl competition is going to be stiff and silicon would seem to be key...

Along those lines, asnd seems to be going with ala silicon for adsl... (where's rok?).. and the new mietec stuff sounds pretty good... due first qtr ish.

Vaguely remember an announcement of adi/awre's next generation adsl silicon solution: better chip count etc, but can't seem to find it.. Can anyone help? Believe their current chipset is something like five...

Would think that adi/awre may have a window of opportunity if their new adsl stuff is good and on schedule for 98...

btw darkhorse may be orctf... but that's another tale... have gone on long enough as it is...

thanks
s
