I fell into discussion with him on the Off Topic thread 2 years ago on perhaps the most volatile of topics - God. And although we disagreed, he showed respect. Said a lot about the man to me.


I would echo your thoughts with respect to politics. We tended to disagree, but I knew that he would actually read and consider my thoughts before responding. That is too rare both on SI and in real-life.

Beyond that, I am simply amazed at the patience he had in moderating the Apple thread. I simply have no idea how he could deal with the petty disputes on SI while going through his medical issues.

A true gentleman.
