NO. It means they finally got their chip done. Also, since Sony has a chip, it would be like Ford selling motors to GM for thier cars if Sony were to sell the chip to its competitors. Who's gunna supply all the other Japanese CE makers? (BTW...I can read john's mind <ggg>) Encoders are 50-100+ X more complex than decoders. So lots of people have had them on their drawing boards for 2 years. Only 2 chips have shown up so far.
