Clean, I think you'd be a great moderator, but the thread, or more appropriately the constituents of the thread, did not get a due process for establishing your right to the chair.
So, it is with great trepidation that I propose a framework for a democratic succession to the Chair of Moderator.
THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE PROTOCOL
1. Starting now, the thread should have a vote of confidence in the existing chair holder at 6 month intervals, once after each new year and again after the first half of the year.
2. The vote of confidence shall consist of a single pair of posts to the thread, one stating "confidence in the current moderator" and the other stating "no confidence in the current moderator." After 7 days the "Recommendations" will be tallied to determine if an election is to be held.
3. Should an election be required, all parties having posted to the thread during the month prior to the month in which the election is held will be eligible to become moderator. 7 days will be allowed for individuals to declare their status as running or not running before the election is held in the same manner as was the vote of confidence.
4. The sitting moderator will be responsible for administering each step of these proceedings.
I leave the floor open for discussion. As this is not yet an adopted protocol, feel free to take over as moderator of this palaver that you might see it through to some fruitful end, thereby eradicating the polarization over the issue of due process.
I will kick this off with an initial vote to adopt (or not) the VOTE OF CONFIDENCE PROTOCOL. Since I can't give a recommendation to my own post, please put my vote down as "ADOPT" and feel free to vote as the existing moderator on this issue. |
