"Java threatens Intel more than Microsoft, because it makes applications platform-independent," Vellante said.

Oh really? Who's JAVA? On what VM? Why is INTC threatened?Threatened by SUNW picojava core vaporware? How about INTC's femtojava core? Why does anyone believe that "platform-independence" is significant or that JAVA gets added value from such implementation? NOVL and ORCL claim they write JAVA apps for the server(how is that practical?), so doesn't that make plat indep somewhat superfluous? What data model are we talking about? What I/O priority are being assumed? Confusion reigns, so please get me cleared.
