WH> When we also consider the scope of what lies ahead for FTel the hardware maker, and FNet the service provider, its endless.
The word is out, if you don't have IP in your portfolio, your dead meat. For ISP's voice over IP will become a given during the next few years.
How many ISP's do you think have called Franklin in regards to setting up their area's with Franklin as the Network in which to work off of? I can tell you its probably hundreds!!!!
Any ISP owner who knows that FNet is setting up a Global Network would die to be apart of it with bring Internet Telephony to their customers. It sure beats making 9 bucks on a $ 19.95 deadbeat monthly service. ggg
If sending out 15,000 packets to ISP's, telling them to become part of a global telephone company isn't enough to wake up a thunderous avalanche of profits for them, then I don't know what would be. gg
If you take the levels of ISP's at five,( NAPS, BACKBONE'S, REGIONAL'S, ISP'S, AND BUSINESS, and in all around 3600, its easy to see these starving (soon to be part of a teleco giant) providers are itching to be APART OF HISTORY IN THE MAKING.
Look at the possiblities with BBN, 66 POP's 3200 business accounts, and 73 million in revenues.
CWIX, 37 global backbone nodes, POP's in 54 countries. 8.7 billion in revenues, and hundreds of more mid to upper ISP's.
When FNet sets up shop in every major city in the US, and has an ISP within every city, it WILL be very sweet.
How easy is it to set up this account? How well did the demo go in New York? ggg
How expensive will it be to set all this up, well if the players are going to make money, they will help foot the bill. Its going to be their territory, (so claim it like a gold rush. ggg IMHO, its going to be rather profitable when you consider THEY are the ones buying the DVG's and setting up their accounts. FNets just going to operate the national system for them.
All FNet has to do is monitor, take names, and backup the dump truck once in awhile. gg
Maybe its not quite that easy, but I think the picture gets clearer.
The beauty of voice/data is that most ISP's will not need to upgrade or spend alot of cash for IP.
Companies like Franklin claim that IS managers could reduce their support and infrastructure costs by leveraging their existing Ethernet networks. In a "green field" environment, (such as a new building that has no infrastructure yet), that means not laying a second set of phone cables, in an existing building, it could include elimating expensive PBX systems. And telephone-support personnel might become unnessary if telephone systems become just another application on the network. OK, FNet automation!!
With most ISP's already set up on Fast Ethernet, its not going to take alot of cost upgrade for the average ISP. I think thats the beauty of it as I am seeing it now, ATM will be the future, but is not needed if your just using data/voice. Againk, every ISP should be able to use Internet Telephony with minimual upgrading.
It will be interesting to see how FTelFNet sets up accounts without stepping on any toes or boundries.
The DVG will lead us out of the dungeon into a new world that awaits franklins other great products, including the Cyclone which will run piggieback in other applications to the DVG.
Sure we can make big bucks on other products, but if you had a 10 to ratio for DVG's and you were making a service side too with FNet per minute, it would be stupid to put the cart before the horse.ggg
ISP's are just one segement of revenues for FTel/FNet.
