As a teacher, I am all for improving the education levels in this country and eradicating illiteracy.



I was responding to your comment that "we are a very rich nation."

By stating, "Throwing more money at social problems isn't always a solution. ... maybe we should have some more courageous discussions than who's side of partisan talking points everyone one wants to be placed."

We've been using more money to create the best education programs and have been falling further behind for the past 50 years. So, If you are a teacher who is all for improving the education levels, how about supporting some different approaches? Some that actually get results. My 15 year old kid gets tutored once a week and just got an 'A' on her calculus test, she is no smarter that the kids who are going to the this nearby tutoring program but the results are way better.

And the beat goes on:

Feb. 14, An Aurora, Colorado is under fire for establishing a segregation program. The after school tutoring program was only for students of color (“For all children of color”). After CBS4 broke the news, the district is apologizing and is allowing white kids in.
