Before I grew up I was part of that culture.

I never once heard anyone at that time say anything like, "Dick Cheney is slime. They should have saved that heart for someone who deserved it" or, as someone posted to me last week, "I hope someone shoots him" or "I wish the old codger would keel over soon."

What I remember from that time was, "Live and Let Live."

I remember not liking the Vietnam war; but I also remember disgust toward liberals LBJ and McNamara -- not the "Democrats can do no wrong" attitude of today. There was a bit more objectivity.

And I certainly don't think we would have embraced Obama's corporatism, greed, secrecy and the fact that he has literally sold out to various industries. I don't think we would have endorsed the wholesale forking over of taxpayer money to consolidate his political power and all but guarantee he'll move from mere millionaire status to billionaire status during his lifetime.

Liberalism today is a hate-filled, mean-spirited business. One I wouldn't have participated in then and sure as hell wouldn't now.
