"As a Jew , with most of my relatively recent generations of ancestors from Poland and Russia, this RW crap sickens me and concerns me deeply when viewing history."

Your perspective is justifiably more personal than those of us whom have never encountered systemic oppression due to the family of humans we belong to. However, our despite against such bigotry (and out contempt for the flippant use of the Nazi/Hitler thing as puerile insult)--is perhaps as keen. When people turn ordinary conversation and blogging shit-fests into comparison to a regime which exterminated innocent people because they could...well that just goes to show how thoughtless and shallow some people can be. People who are losing a discussion should dig for facts--not shovel racist shit at their opponent.

Two posters have spent years libelling me with Hitlerian epithets and pretended sexual deviance--simply because I ask troubling questions about their superstition and their scripture and because I openly support equality for all people and sexual freedom for gays and lesbians. I think (I KNOW) that terrible wrongs have been done to minorities whether they be Caananites, Jews, or gays born with an abnormal (but not immoral) sexuality. I have been fortunate to be in the mainstream majority in all areas of life but that does not make me insensible to the terrible hurts people have shared with me based on ugly prejudice against their color or sexual orientation.

Unfortunately, some religions glorify bigotry against all sorts of people and attempt to condemn and to persecute those with different gods (or no gods)--or just different values. This bigotry does not belong in 2013. It belongs centuries in the past and it should never even have happened there. The two people I alluded to are Fundamentalist Christians-but the religious dogma of separating people into us and them, the chosen, the rejected, the moral, the immoral, the saved, the damned...this dogma is certainly not reserved to Christians. Islam excels in this form of bigotry. Fortunately, most Christians no longer follow the sillyness (and evil) of their big books of fun. This at least is a good thing--a DAMN GOOD THING!!
