Yes, there is! You are sent a mailing listing all the candidates and the CEO's recommendations, which, since you usually know nothing whatsoever about these people, are usually followed. If you go all contratian and vote against all of the recommended picks, you're really just voting for the CEO's second choice, not any sort of opposition!

You probably haven't had a high enough position in any corporation to understand how the game works, Dave.

All these boardmembers are CEO's and executives of OTHER corporations, and unless a pay increase is just so ridiculous that someone might pay attention, EVERY request for increased pay is granted, with the understand that the rewarded executive will act according when his job is boardmember!
