You HAVE to direct largess to your cronies or you won't be reelected.

Look at Monti in Italy. He agreed to run the government for $1 dollar a year. He tried his best to straighten the government out and his reward is a 14% approval rating.

Democracies run on SELF INTEREST. You HELP ME and I'll vote for you, you don't and I'll vote for the OTHER guy that SAYS he will help me.

In China they don't have that problem. That's why the Chinese are going to BURY us.
