tejek...the teacher's UNIONS are a BIG part of the problem.

Teachers can be totally incompetent in many places but there isn't anything they can do about it because of their unions.

My Wife IS a teacher so I'm not coming at this with a totally subjective view.

There is no question there are incompetent teachers. More importantly, there are teachers who can't handled teaching in inner city schools. They may not be incompetent but it takes special skills to teach in the inner city.

However, its not the unions that are resulting in poor physical plants........leaky roofs, broken windows etc nor are teachers getting rich thanks to the unions.........if your wife is a teacher, you must know that. The reality is we are not willing to spend good money for less fortunate kids in this country and that usually covers the kids of color.

Consequently, the result is we discriminate when it comes to educational facilities in this country. The well off and middle class get the good facilities..........the poor whatever is left over.........and its usually junk. And if you don't think the kids get it..........they do. Kids are hypersensitive and they know when they are getting the short end of the deal.
