Not that it matters much. The Jewish beliefs allows for Gentiles to convert. I'm not aware of any diminished status for gentile converts, are you?
Of course there should not be any diminishing status, however, Ashkenazi Jews (European Jews) are not Semites and can't claim ancestral land, OTOH, Palestinian Jews can.
