ratan lal [POTS]

POTS = Plain Old Telephone System. This is the Copper Wire that is strung across America. In the industry it is referred to as POTS.

A POTS splitter is designed to split off the ADSL connection from the Wire going to your telephone, outside the home. This so there is a separate line to the modem. Your typical phone wire running through the house has many open phone jacks, which can cause problems, and also your phone wire runs all though your house, and can be effected by your A/C going on & off, Washing Machine, Light switches, Refrigerator, ect. This is no problem for the 4Khz voice bandwidth of copper, but once your place data on the line it can be effected by a number of "things". (see WHY DMT) Message 555777

For a little info on POTS Splitters see Amati's PR and their deal with
RayChem amati.com .

Hope this helps.
