There is one such house around the corner from my house here in Seattle. It's run down, the guy hasn't paid a bill in about two years, has had his power and water cut off and runs a generator 24/7. One day a land use sign went up implying a possible eviction, but the next day it was gone. About six months later, just a couple days ago, the guy next door sold his house so he can get away. I would guess this guy had to leave a pretty good chunk of change on the table to get out with this future (or current) crack house next door.

I presume the mortgage company is paying the taxes to keep the county from foreclosing, so it's costing them 400 per month in taxes plus they are carrying the inventory.

And they guy has living for free for almost two years now, and counting.
