With 80% of W8 mobile sales coming from Nokia products, is it time for Msft to form an even closer relationship
with Nokia by buying the company, or failing that, by buying a piece of it? It's true that Msft would like to continue the licensing revenues and the exposure from Samsung, HTC, Huawei etc. but the main thrust of it's business is now with Nokia and, just as it's a disadvantage for Nokia to not have control of it's operating system, it's also a disadvantage for Msft not have control it's operating partner it has become dependent on.
