"I think there might be a golf course or two within a half hour's helicopter flight of the WH."
There are. The complainers would be complaining even if he was playing croquet with his daughters in his backyard.

If I was cutting money, I'd whack the golf courses first. Then I'd whack the WH chopper, so he has to walk to AF 1. Then I'd tell him to have a nice enuf day that he doesn't feel the need to push the button that sets off WW3.

Military golf. Of course, generals and admirals aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy some of perks of being in the U.S. armed forces. Although lower-ranking service members don’t get private jets and personal chefs, U.S. taxpayers still spend billions of dollars a year to pay for luxuries that are out of reach for the ordinary American. The Pentagon, for example, runs a staggering 234 golf courses around the world, at a cost that is undisclosed.
