What buy out? When I retired, my company and the industry were doing great. They did have buyouts in the 80's but they ended decades ago in my company. Some of out retirees go back and work as consultants part time but I'm just not interested.

I know roughly what I would have been making and my dividend and pension income exceed it. Plus now I can spend more time with the grandkids - really the deciding factor. If I was motivated for need for more income, I'd have taken an overseas assignment to somewhere in Africa .... could have gotten a 40-60% premium depending on the country ... plus 4 weeks off every 4 weeks.

I know dozens like you who insist they could have stayed on......

In my case, that's because I could have. I actually worked one year later than is "normal" in my company.

And then ask who would let you work to an older SS age.....

?? What does SS have to do with it? I'm not old enough for that now.
