Sounds right - some folks fail to comprehend the legal implications of concealed carry and what constitutes legal self defense.

I prefer granting the concealed carry permit without a class - I also agree some training should be required.

So my suggestion has been to give a temporary permit immediately after passing a background check but require a training course to be completed in some period of time - say 90 days.

Otherwise you forfeit the permit and of course if you fail the class you also forfeit the permit.

This way people prompted to get a permit due to some immediate threats can get one quickly without waiting for the next class to become open but also ensure they understand when and where they can use a gun.
