In my post about IOMEGA in Europe I was reffering to continental Europe and, more specifically Belgium and Netherlands. UK market is more like US and not typical for Europe.

Belgium is for some reason often used by manufacturers as a test country for their products - I guess because it has a mix of Latin and Germanic mentality and a lot of foreigners.

Most of the computers sold are "no-name" - this means they are assembled on the spot in the computer store according to the wish of the customer who can choose from a "menu".

Syquest is practically non-existent, ZIP drives are sold but they still are "exotic". There are practically no advertisments which is probably part of the explanation. Wonder if IOMEGA has THE distributor in continental Europe or if they rely on general type distributors like INGRAM (which BTW has a disastrous reputation here).

LS120 cab be bought off the shelf or as a part of a system (no-name, see above). The price is US$ 380,- including 21% sales tax. The 120MB disks are US$ 3.50 (all prices approx.) ZIP drive can be bought for US$ 280,- and disk US$ 2.90

These are, off course, only my personal observations and feelings. Perhaps Europe is not so important for the success of ZIP?

Regards

Dejan
