As always when Berkshire reports I wonder why I don't put a larger % there and forget about mediocre securities. Still not expensive. Do you still have MBIA? What a high wire act that story is. In spite of nice highs in the market not all is well in my port. Penn West is acting like a real dog, and I hope this is the year BAC gets out of the doghouse. Imp continues to be a comfort. Recently I read that most gold mining companies have not done anything over the last decade, even though gold has had a great run. They have been poor stewards of capital and their costs have gone up a lot. A lot of the majors have been firing their ceos. A relative gave me a tip to look at Chesapeake Gold, so I have been doing a little research. The outfit seems ok, but they are all in a slump, including the bigger boys who might buy them out.
