Who cares if she is? Stars are cool. Isn't it kind of normal to be starstruck. (Noonan is actually criticizing her for being a star- not being starstruck). I would definitely meet any I had the chance to meet. My modus operandi for going through life is carpe diem- especially the fun diems. I leave no stone unturned when it comes to utterly enjoying my life. Seems to me there's not a little bit of jealousy here. The reps are the ultimate in uncool- and almost no one under 40 gives a crap what they think, or do, and Hollywood is really uninterested in the conservative agenda (and who can blame them? How many people not wearing depends (excellent Dale observation) are interested?) So they are turning green with envy they don't get invited to anything fun. There's a reason for that... Whether the Obama's are stars, or just like them, I think that's excellent. The young people of America like the movies, and I suspect the dems in general like Hollywood- we're a fun loving bunch, after all- so this whole Hollywood thing can only help the Obamas, I think. The reps just come off looking angry, jealous, and totally unfun. And since that's what they are, it's a pretty fair turn of events.

It's possible it's as simple as Michele really loving the movies and being honored by the invite. But if it's more cagey, and involves catering to tthe dem base- excellent move. Because haters are gonna hate- and the Obama's could heal the sick, feed the hungry and raise the dead- and the wingnuts are still going to pee their depends in anger and bitch and moan.
