Hi Joe,

I'm sure you have seen these reports already, but for those
that haven't,

A report was published last week by UK-based Bloor Research Group,
I'm not much into type so here are a few excerpts:

-that Microsoft faces a troubled future, where its growth, profits and viablity will be under threat
-the US $650M global computer industry is in midst of seismic shift
-corporations will move towards centralized computing model

"This earthquake will totally rearrange the IT landscape,
affecting all vendors of IT products and services...
Bloor predicts a decline in the PC market by late 1997

-report envisages demand for PCs being superseded by demand
for stripped-down, inexpensive computing devices...linked
with cheap browsers replacing Windows OS...all running
Web-enabled software apps.

-Driving force behind market changes is emergence of Sun
Microsystems Java Programming language.

"Because Java executes applications from anywhere, for the first
time software application development can take place separate
from an operating system, enabling the internet and
changing the client server model...

The report talks about other impacts and Microsoft's position
in all this.

Take the report for what it's worth. Hopefully, they are right.
