"The media?" Like two people in the media.
ABCNews broke the story about Joe's tax problem. All the other news media outlets echoed the story.

The NYTimes wrote a lot of follow-up stories about the "problem", more than they did about TurboTax Geithner, for example.

That's more than just "two people in the media." I shouldn't have to point this out to you.
