You're very welcome.

"The Lutheran church was very much like the Catholic church and I served as an alter boy several times."

So, did you go to catechism before you were confirmed?

The Lutheran Church actually has much less in common with the Roman Catholic Church than it might appear on the surface. The issues that sparked the Reformation remain unresolved to this day. It was never about the necessity of Grace (both side have always agreed on that) but rather the sufficiency of Grace. There is a huge difference between the imputation of Christ's righteousness and the infusion of Christ's righteousness. The terms Monergism vs Synergism are key to the dispute. I'd be happy to discuss the difference if you're interested.
