Bob:

If DSPs are a commodity, why is TXN spending hundreds of millions on software code (Amati's DMT protocall), tools and toolmakers (Tartan, Inc.) and seed money for DSP applications ($100 million DSP venture fund)? Yes, as Bilow so aptly put it, DSPs (particularly for mature, volume applications) fall in price over time. But that is what the tech revolution is all about: price ELASTIC markets creating dozens of NEW APPLICATIONS with high volumes and (initially) high margins every day.

As for Mr. Kurlak, always remember that he gets paid to generate trading activity. Anybody who can make a several-thousand-person sales force jump cannot be ignored - if only for the entertainment value!

Best regards,
Charlie
