For years people have complained about a lack of Gov't energy policy. But without an energy policy the US has come from a shortage in Nat Gas to a glut via fracking. Then the lessons learned with nat gas was applied to oil and for the first time in a generation, the US is growing oil production and at a rapid rate to boot.

Would we have done all this with a gov't energy policy pushing investments this way and that? I don't know. Don't get me wrong, a policy that would push a greater use of nat gas in the transportation industry would be very useful. But when Washington gets mucking around with things it is usually one step forward and two steps back. With all the "crazy negative talk" in certain areas about fracking, I sort of doubt that an energy policy would have pushed the fracking revolution.

Just my two cents.
