It's not the volume of money, its what that money is doing..

Velocity is diff now. In 2001-8 there were many financial instruments available that are now gone. 2009 collapse eliminated many of them and now there are fewer products for that money to chase.

There is a list somewhere (post if I find it) of these crazy, exotic instrument. I was shocked to learn just home many crazy ways there were to 'invest.
