The at-bat analogy is a little flawed PX. If you have to use it, I would say you can choose to bat against some pitcher X who is awful so you have a great chance of hitting a homer OR you can choose to bat against every pitcher, most who are better than pitcher X. I'm very selective in choosing my matchups. When things get more cloudy, I like to diversify and spread my long/short picks.
