i lived n Philadelphia in 74 and 75. i had these autographs Barber/Clark/Kelly/Flett and Clark. Sport in Philly those 2 years consisted of Flyers and Steve Carleton:) i left Philly in 1981 and interest in Flyers slowly died; but i am told the team still has a rabid following, which surprised me given its been now 37 years since a Stanley Cup victory.
But i think the 76ers have helped Flyers keeping a strong fan base.
Sixers have been as dull a team in Philly for a long time---at least 25 years, except the freak year Iverson led them NBA champion playoffs(which they lost 1-4)(The Bynum matter a huge fiasco; they gave up 2 fine young talents for a daed goods--so what do they do; release Bynum, and see him then get well? Man what a predicament--he going to have surgery--what peope don't realize Bynum has been an NBA player since age 17!, so his knees are alrerady OLD)
i don't subcribe to Hockey channels so i have lost touch. But from what i note they have been causing Heartburn for quite sometime.
i really briefly got highly interested duing that wild Penguins/Flyers series--that had with flashes of the old Flyer excitement--but then they were demolished in what , 4 games, by, the Devils????? Just now checking Flyer Fans situation: i see they have lost 3 in a row and are now 11th in Eastern Conference standings.
