Obama did just what you thought a president should do........he reached out to Rs, took them to dinner.........tried to open up some honest interaction between them. The results...........Rs are back on track to repeal Obamacare. Its not what the president wants; its not what the American people want.

There is absolutely no point in trying to negotiate with Rs. Someone needs to pull the plug on the GOP.


Once a person -- even a president -- violates the trust of others, it takes more than an expensive dinner to rebuild it.

This is a clear sign of impudence and immaturity. When you personally attack a person or group of people, it is naive to think that it all goes away by virtue of putting on an act for a day or two. It may take months or years to rebuild credibility.

This is why, as Obama was conducting himself in this arrogant manner several years ago, I pointed out here that he knows nothing about how deals are made and that it would come back to bite him. The first thing you have to do when negotiating is build a relationship based on trust, fairness, competence, and commitment.

Now, it is a waiting game -- for Rs to be able to see whether Obama was play-acting at the dinner party or serious about negotiation.
