You say that only Intel benefits from surging sales of 166 and 200MHZ Pentiums and Pentium Pros. If I told you I just bought a machine with 8MB DRAM, do you think it is more likely a 100MHZ or 200MHZ computer? If I told you I bought a machine with 32MB DRAM, do you think it is more likely a 100 MHZ or 200 MHZ computer? If you are correct that there is a greater than expected shift to high end systems, I think the implications go far beyond Intel. Look at any computer ad and compare DRAM, graphics, etc for low end and high end machines.
