The California Technology Stock Letter recommends IntergratedDevice Technology (IDTI) 9 15/16, for a target of 28.
Integrated Device Technology (IDTI) 9 15/16 unchanged,is languishing despite improving fundamentals and a brightoutlook for the next several quarters. We met with IDTI at Comdex and were extremely impressed with the progress they've made on the WinChip X86 compatible processor. All 4 major BIOS now run on the chip, greatly simplifying mothherboard design. The Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Lab has tested the processor, and it can carry the "Design for Microsoft Windows 95" logo. Independent software test house XXCAL has qualified WinChip for "Platinum" certification, indicating 100% compatibility with all major PC hardware and software products. No major customers for the C6 have yet been announced, but a number of mother-boards were on display in the Comdex booth. IDTI is placing most of its marketing effort on the 2nd and 3rd tier motherboard manufacturers where Intel Inside is probably less important. But we also note that they just added senior sales staff in Dallas, near Dell and Compaq. Meanwhile, the C6+ with reduced die size and additional multimedia instructions should be available early nextyear. Buy IDTI at 12 or better for a target of 28.
Technology stocks faced recent selling pressure following profit-warnings and news of analyst downgrades of several semiconductor companies. The sector's late rebound helped the NASDAQ Composite finish up 8.76 at 1615.13.
Brightpoint (CELL) 15 7/8 down 15/16. We are told that a major firm could come out with a recommendation on this stock during the next week or so. Also we are told that there could be a contract announcement coming on the heelsof that as well. You may want to keep an eye on this one.
The US stock market is the most promising stock market at the moment. Individuals around the world have individual retirement mutual fund accounts. While in London, last month, several friends told me that they had some or all of their money in the Hong Kong market, in diversified portfolios. Their attitude was that the stock values would recover and they could not move out of these accounts for now. This money or new money can start coming into US stocks. International money managers may reallocate funds to US stocks. Even if the US economy is slipping into a slowdown. Conservation of capital becomes a priority for investors burned by chancing a speculative market. This thought making the strongest economy, the most honest stock market for company financial reporting, the nation that has the highest profile around the world. The US stock market becomes the story stock market, the market that rebounds. The post Thanksgiving stock market should see a smallcap rally, the Jan effect in Dec. It is likely that loss selling took place in Oct and in the summer.

BTW-This popped up also. IT is FYI and not a recommendation.
A stock trading at under .30 with EPS of .11 for the year ending 12/31/97? No, not like FAMH or some other questionable promotion -- Semicon Tools (SETO) is a REPORTING COMPANY that just made an acquisition of a very profitable Malaysian company whose business is a good fit with their own. Yesterday the stock traded over 400,000 shares and moved from the .18-.20 area to .21-.25, and it's up again today. I think it'll take a few more days before everyone notices them, and it seems to me it ought to be .50 or .60 by then. Bill Velmer of S.A. Advisory (yeah, I know, Mr. Selfish and Self-promotion, but he's followed SETO since it was .07 and in this case I think he's right) just named it his pick of the year for 1998. Check out the S.A. Advisory website as well as SETO's filings on EDGAR for due diligence -- but do it QUICKLY before people figure out that the numbers are for real.
What's the expression, Robert, "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't". In this case, red lights are going off. 0.11 EPS on a 0.25 priced stock. OH WELL. |
