Kentucky oil sands: Don't remind me, lost a boat load on Megawest Energy. Had a tar sand project in the Deerfield area of western Missouri, and some properties in Kentucky. The stuff was so shallow too. It all seemed so easy - beautiful little steaming system they had set up.

TXCO (now bankrupt) was working on the San Miguel Oil Sands in Texas. That was and even bigger fiasco. I think Tri Valley is still doing something with with oil sands in California - Vaca formation?

So what's wrong with us Americans? How come only Canadians can make money on oil sands? Only profitable tar sands project in the US is a tourist attraction - the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Very cool to see all those animal bones. The kids love it.
