Silver Spring Networks stock soars in IPO By Benjamin Pimentel MarketWatch March 13, 2013, 9:53 a.m. EDT SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Shares of Silver Spring Networks /quotes/zigman/14504027/quotes/nls/ssni SSNI +24.00% soared 25% Wednesday as the energy-technology company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The stock opened at $22 after pricing at $17 a share, above its proposed range of $16 to $18. Silver Spring shares were last trading up 26% at $21.38. The Redwood City, Calif.-based company helps utility companies use "smart grid" technologies for more efficient and lower cost energy use. marketwatch.com
