Her mother went into surgery that day to have a tumor removed from her brain.

How did they find the tumor? Probably with a CT or MRI scan. I constantly hear about cases where people were feeling fine got sick and turned out to have inoperable stage 1V lung cancer. Why didn't they find it at one of the earlier stages? Because she had no symptoms and they didn't scan for it. Would finding it sooner have saved their life? Nobody knows.

The medical industry constantly fights the use of scans. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
