I didn't think to ask how they found it. All I know is that the email was received last Wednesday morning (the 6th) and the surgery was performed the same day. She's expected to remain in hospital for at least another 2 weeks. She fought the kidney cancer hard. She fought the lung cancer hard. I hope she can fight this one too. All this has happened within the last 2-1/2 years.

Several years ago another friend of mine had an uncle who had been complaining of back pains for over a year. His doctor prescribed pain medication. When they finally did a scan/x-ray/whatever, they found one lung was totally gone. How could one not know? He wasn't short of breath, wasn't weak, just had a constant back ache. He died within a few months of the discovery.
