The US contributed greatly to have cheaper goods: Tech bubble over-produced a lot of technologies that allowed the African today to have wireless at a price they can afford.

The US is this big cow that the rest of the world milk for cheap technologies.

At Cold War's end, two thirds of all scientists and engineers worked for the defense related industries. Eplay could enlighten us on that.
